U-Systems’ Mission is to:
Assist radiologists in the early detection of breast lesions through the use of cost-effective ultrasound systems.
U-Systems was founded in 1997 by Bob Wang, who also founded R2 Technology, Inc. and Rare Earth Medical. R2 was a groundbreaking company in the field of Computer Aided Detection (CAD) and was recently acquired by Hologic for $220 million. Rare Earth Medical developed a breakthrough in x-ray technology, making screening mammography possible by significantly reducing the x-ray radiation dosage required.
The somo.v™ is the result of 10 years of research and development. It methodically scans a woman’s breast capturing up to 350 ultrasound images that can be rendered and reviewed in 3D.
The somo.v™ offers several advantages to our customers:
- Repeatable performance utilizing a wide field of view transducer and standardized positioning.
- Reproducible image quality equivalent to other high end ultrasound systems.
- 3D simulated real-time interaction.
- 3D automated landmark references that update automatically in real time during review.
- Patient convenience – supine (resting) position.
- No x-rays or ionizing radiation.
- Improved workflow.
- One button automated acquisition.
- Standardized, repeatable images.
- Faster exam times.
- Scheduling flexibility - complete cases can be saved and stored for later review; thereby allowing the physician to see the same image in different locations and at different times.
